FITA Now Offers NVQs
THE upskilling programme in impervious floors from FITA (The Flooring Industry Training Association) now includes an NVQ at Level 2 for successful candidates.
This offer is relevant to flooring contractors who employ experienced fitters who need to apply for a blue CSCS cards for the first time, as well as companies who have fitters who currently hold a green CSCS card and need to upgrade to a blue card.
In either case those fitters will need to have an NVQ at Level 2 to meet the requirements for the blue card. If they don’t have an NVQ the Specialist Upskilling Programme (SUP) available from FITA can help.
SUP is aimed at experienced operatives with existing knowledge and skills but who do not have a Level 2 N/SVQ and require training (or need a refresher) to gain the qualification.
Operatives must register for an N/SVQ to undertake the programme and have up to 12 months to complete the process. Within the 12 month period there will be six days training allocated and this will be delivered by FITA.
The cost of the SUP is £2200 (plus VAT) and for fitters working for CITB levy registered companies the cost is funded up to a maximum of £2625. This gives the employer the opportunity to contribute to travel costs, accommodation, etc out of the surplus. The SUP is also open to non-levy paying members.
For details about the SUP programme contact the FITA office.
