FITA Offers Specialist Upskilling

FLOORLAYERS now require an NVQ Level 2 to meet the requirements for the blue card. FITA (Flooring Industry Training Association) offers a specialist upskilling programme (SUP) for impervious flooring that will suit employers with experienced fitters who need to apply for a blue CSCS cards for the first time; or fitters who currently hold a green CSCS card and need to upgrade to a blue card.
The specialist upskilling programme is aimed at experienced operatives with existing knowledge and skills but who do not have an N/SVQ at Level 2 and require training (or feel they need a refresher) to gain the qualification.
Operatives must register for an N/SVQ to undertake the programme and allow up to 12 months to complete the process. Within the 12 month period there will be six days training allocated and this will be delivered through FITA.
The cost of the SUP is £2,200 and for fitters working for CITB levy registered companies the cost is funded up to a maximum of £2,625. This gives the employer the opportunity to contribute to travel costs, accommodation, etc, out of the surplus.
The SUP is also open to non-levy paying members. But please note that for non-funded companies the £2,200 is subject to VAT at the standard rate.
(Note: SUP is not available to new entrants to the industry.)
