2019 Clerkenwell Design Week

This is another year in which Clerkenwell Design Week presents all the new design projects and street spectacles. They have all been commissioned specially for the festival and featured around Clerkenwell. The projects aim to push the boundaries of design, firstly by inviting some of the leading pioneers in the creative world, and secondly by processing the design and material capabilities.

The projects are tailored to challenge visitors’ perception of the design application, but also to inspire and entertain at the same time. Previously featured were names such as Cousins + Cousins architects, Gruppe, Assemble, Studio Weave, Monotype, OKAY Studio, Grimshaw Architects, Johnson Tiles, Sebastian Cox and more.

Clerkenwell has been home to the majority of the creative businesses and architects of the planet, which makes it truly one of the most important design hubs worldwide. The Clerkenwell Design Week has created a showcase to celebrate this rich and diverse community of leading British and international brands. The festival consists of a series of showroom events, exhibitions and special installations all across the area.

The three-day festival follows a distinct trail from north to south, or from Spa Fields down to Farringdon.

The local resident design showrooms are integral to the festival and help create a diverse programme of topic-led events among which are talks, workshops and product launches. Visitors will see pop-up showrooms curated by high-end furniture, kitchen, lighting, and bathroom brands such as  Altro, Marazzi, and Erco.

Elements at The Clerkenwell Design Week bring together a leading selection of ironmongery, switch plates, hardware, and architectural accessories. Alongside some of the most exciting home-grown designer-makers, this show will present a diverse range of the best in international contemporary design.

The exhibition will take place between the 21st and 23rd May within a street-market style pavilion on St John’s Square, and will be the go-to destination for designers looking for the perfect finish.
