Interest Is Growing
THE improving economy, new dates (September 21-23) and success of the 2013 exhibition have led to a surge in interest in The Flooring Show.
Several major exhibitors from the past are in discussions with the organisers about returning to the show, and confirmed stand bookings are well ahead of this time last year.
New or lapsed exhibitors who have signed up for 2014, include Adam Carpets, F&X Carpets, Festool and Viligno. Other leading industry stalwarts are currently finalising their plans for the year and announcements are expected soon.
The revised show dates have been well received, particularly by continental exhibitors who were deterred by the previous dates being so close to the traditional August slow-down.
Enquiries from the contract sector are also increasing following a presentation by the show’s event manager Wendy Adams to a pre-Christmas meeting of the Contract Flooring Association. She revealed plans to make the Flooring Show even more relevant to the contract / commercial sector.
One key new initiative with major commercial flooring companies, interior designers and furniture providers involves a series of ‘themed’ exhibition ‘sets’ covering such key areas as education, elderly care, retail, and cafeteria/restaurant.
These ‘sets’ will provide visual interest for exhibition visitors, as well as offering a shop window for the exhibitor that’s fully relevant to their core expertise.
At the same time, plans for the commercial and contract flooring seminars continue to be developed, with the initial programme expected to be published soon.
Meanwhile, adding to the strong attraction of Harrogate with its many hotels, restaurants and pubs within easy walking distance from the exhibition venue is a new 107-room Premier Inn directly connected to the Harrogate International Centre is under construction, scheduled to be fully operational by September when the Flooring Show takes place.
