There is already a buzz as companies prepare to exhibit at the Flooring Show with significantly more exhibitors due than last year. Here are some of them:
Adam Carpets (Stand C39) is a manufacturer of tufted carpets making both graphics and ICN overtuft ranges and bespoke commercial products.
This is a family business that was established in 1928 and all its carpets are made in the company’s Kidderminster factory. All yarn is dyed in Adam’s own on-site dye-house.
The company will show a range of its products which are predominantly 2 ply 80% wool 20% nylon yarn in both velvet and twist piles. PDF design images and hand trials are available within one working week. All products are available in both 4m and 5m widths.
The carpets come with either Action Bac or Unitary latex for double stick installation. It quotes a lead time of 3-4 working weeks from the placement of an order.

Ball & Young (Stand M20/24) invites visitors to its stand to walk on the ‘Rolls Royce’ of carpet underlay – Cloud 9. The stand will feature a caviar and champagne theme to present its award winning Cloud 9 range. The 11mm premier luxury underlay is also available in 9mm. Ball & Young has a list of references at hotels and hospitality, yachts, super yachts, ferries and cruise ships.
In the UK, the company’s focus is mainly on the domestic and contract marketplace, supplying underlays to suit each installation.
The Cloud 9 Flame Retardant range available in 4mm, 6mm and 8mm, is IMO rated, and is now used in major hotels around the UK.
Cloud 9 is described as having excellent sound and thermal qualities, ‘helping to keep those utility bills down’.
It has a low tog rating: Radiance (1.3 tog); Rubber ranges: Roma (0.8 tog), Venice (1.0 tog); Olympic Range: 3 mm (0.3 tog), 5mm (0.5 tog) and 6.5mm (0.7 tog).

Bembe (Stand C31) offers a vast range of engineered and solid wood flooring, including 14mm thick engineered boards with a 6mm wearlayer, and solid finger parquet for heavy commercial use.
Its Edelholz range of naturally distressed and reclaimed looking boards in both engineered and solid formats is available in both planks and herringbone. The engineered range has an oak core and back layer as well as top layer.
Comfort Tabis is an engineered, pre-finished herringbone strip in 11 or 14mm thickness.
UK sales manager Tim Absolom has a wealth of experience in the flooring market and is optimistic of continued growth for Bembe in the coming years.

British Wool (Stand C40) will feature the Campaign for Wool as part of a major celebration of wool carpet at this year’s Flooring Show.
New at this year’s show is the Wool Trends Centre which will be supported by leading carpet brands, including Adam, Axminster, Brintons, Brockway, Bronte, Cavalier and Ulster, all of which are officially participating in the event.
Also new is a promotional feature presented by Homes & Garden magazine. Participating brands include Whitestone Weavers, Roger Oates, Kingsmead, Crucial Trading, Cormar, Brintons, Axminster, Alternative Flooring and Adam.
An eight page special wool trends supplement will be given out to visitors.
Another new feature incorporates a Homes & Gardens’ Wool inspirations’ room-set styled area.
Wool education hub is yet another introduction co-funded by British Wool Marketing Board (BWMB) and the Campaign for Wool in association with wool carpet industry partners to promote wool carpet for the home. The education hub will offer retailers information on wool with ‘assets’ to assist in promoting and selling wool carpet in-store.
Tim Booth, BWMB comments: ‘Our aim is to give UK retailers knowledge and tools to promote the added values of real wool.’
As part of this drive, wool seminars are planned every day of the show, covering topics such as cleaning and care, and up-selling to wool. Also a special event from Homes & Garden, featuring its interior trends research, will be hosted its editor-in-chief, Giles Kime.

Canadia Flooring (Stand B20) is located in Dublin, Ireland, and is part of a business established in 1928. It presents the Canadia brand as one that is associated with innovation, quality and value.
The company, serving the UK and Irish markets, specialises in all things wood flooring, including laminate, solid wood, engineered wood and a large range of matching flooring accessories.
Canadia carries a large inventory of stock and says it offers a ‘great service with prompt delivery’.

Cavalier Carpets (Stand C5) is returning to Harrogate this year as part of the British pavillion. The Cavalier stand will again feature the company’s distinctive point of sale collection with the addition of a new slim line Design a Drum Tombola unit.
New products on show will include Gemini, the latest addition to its Couture Collection.
There is an addition to its established Stain-less range of easy care stain resistant polypropylene carpets with Distinctions taking pride of place, offering qualities to suit all budgets, available in 11 established colourways.

Coralie Flooring (Stand A30) is the UK presence of a leading rug manufacturer from India, Haba Rug, which claims to be the first Indian rug producer having a stock facility in the UK.
The company’s products reportedly reflect the experience and artistic and creative ‘magic’ of India’s top rug producers.
Most weavers who make rugs for Coralie are said to have weaving in their heritage; some are fifth and sixth generation weavers. They use their traditional skills to produce exquisite rugs in tune with contemporary trends.
The woollen yarn, which can be either hand spun or machine spun, is dyed in the company’s state-of-the-art dyeing facilities and checked for colour-fastness from exposure to light and rubbing.
Tufting: The insertion of each tuft is done to ensure that every single tuft lays at an acute angle to the back. The company’s weavers choose from the many different tufts to give a variety of patterns and colours.
Finishing: Washing and clipping the excess pile, plus colour sorting to clarify the pattern, and stretching to ensure symmetry, are some of the stages in the finishing process.
CPS Labels (Stand B15) offers a service to companies who require a full print service. Its extensive portfolio encompasses a range of British Standard fire labels, printed and woven labels, printed packaging inserts, brochures, care guides and point of sale products.
CPS says it serves many manufacturers and retailers, including bed, carpet, upholstery and home furnishings companies in the UK and beyond.
It currently supplies labelling products to Alternative Flooring, Associated Weavers, Brintons, Axminster Carpets, Jacaranda Carpets, Ulster Carpets, Westex Carpets, Wool Clasics and Beauliau Flooring Solutions in Belgium.
CPS offers a range of products to flooring sector, including labels, printed on self-adhesive or heat activated linen, carpet aprons, and point of sale print, such as brochures, care guides and packaging inserts.
It uses a variety of substrates and can personalise label designs to reflect individual brands. It also claims to offer the ‘quickest turnaround’ in the printing industry.

Crown Floors (Stand A1) will highlight its new compact lecterns, said to deliver ‘all the power of the royal blue and gold brand’, as well as promoting its Loyalty Club.
With several introductions for 2014, Crown Floors says its portfolio is the strongest ever. It offers retailers products ranging from wool loops, through to coordinated stripe and plain colours, shag piles and a range of easy care twists.
Lecterns are available on all new for 2014 collections, including Parkland, Wilton House, Sheringham, and also the existing Roseland, Penrose and Alderley Edge ranges.

A special wool feature will be created by Angela Wright, whose works have been presented around the world. Angela’s most recent installation at Southwark Cathedral brought many visitors and created a lot of media interest.
Martin adds: ‘If retailers know more about wool and where it comes from, we believe they will be more confident in passing that information back to their customers.

Earthwerks (Stand B22) is an established American family owned brand of LVT products, which aims to set the trend in flooring with its new collection ColorWerks. This is a wood design collection in 18 contemporary colours, with the pattern of the design replicating and highlighting trend setting ‘hand finish’ paint effects.
ColorWerks is described as commercial with vibrant colour and design to lift office, shop, school, restaurant, or residential, making a fashion statement. It comes in colour mixes such as Cranberry Red, Malibu Blue and Dark Rum.

F Ball and Co (Stand B1) will spotlight its range of high performance flooring products, including Stopgap 1200 Pro, winner of the CFJ Product of the Year Award 2014, as well as launching an exciting new fast-track system.
A selection of F Ball products will be demonstrated in the FITA Demo Zone, in Hall B, throughout the exhibition. The demonstrations will give flooring contractors their first opportunity to see products from the company’s new fast-track system in action.
F Ball will be celebrating the fifth anniversary of its Loyalty Card by giving away 60 tickets for a free Sunday lunch at the exhibition, exclusively for loyalty card members, followed by a drinks reception with the F Ball team after the show closes on Sunday evening.

Gekko (Stand B41) will again showcase its range of adhesives. Since last year, Gekko has continued to listen to the markets needs and has launched several new products based on their concept of adhesive systems to improve application techniques by installers.
Gekko G40, the newest product, is reportedly already been used by many installers for cap and cove bonding applications. Said to be fully compatible with all vinyls, G40 is described as repositionable with a very high temperature resistance as well as resistance to plasticiser migration.
Water based spray tackifer Gekko G67 is another recent launch designed as a fast application, high coverage tackifier for large areas. With the ability to apply carpet tiles immediately after application, G67 has reportedly proved to give floor fitters significant time savings.
Other systems such as the G1 wood floor adhesive system, G52 contact spray adhesive system and established G57 tackifier are some of the other innovative systems available from Gekko.

Hanson Plywood (Stand M7) says its SP101 flooring plywood is a underlay panel offering high quality face veneers, reliable glue line performance, accurate dimensional tolerances and an overlay grade core free of overlaps and voids.

Interfloor (Stand B16) will present its new range of Meister hard flooring. The company’s range of laminate and Nadura flooring was launched through John Lewis in February and is now available to independent retailers and contractors.
With 42 decors across seven products the Meister range, from one of Germany’s leading hard flooring manufacturers, is said to offer innovative designs, exclusive products and outstanding marketing support.

Packexe (Stand B3) will introduce its new cushioned protection film. Described as a first, it is said to offer even more effective surface protection, avoiding damage from dropped tools.
Packexe Fleece has a cushioned layer that helps to protect against impact damage from dropping objects. It is described as perfect for delicate surfaces such as wood or ceramic tiles.

Spotnails (Stand B33) will introduce the new MET 567 professional electronic stapler which takes Spotnails’ 55/66/77DC staples, which are used in the mallet drive AF3087 Spotnailer and the pneumatic striker TS3832.
Its 18 gauge divergent chisel points are 16mm 20mm 22mm.
The MET 567 electronic stapler is used for underlayment work and is said to be well suited for fast fixing hardboard and plywood, and comes complete with a quick clear nose and a carry case.
It is described as the effortless alternative to the strike tacker or hammer for fixing hardboard and 6mm ply. It is designed to give a secure and permanent fixing.
The vibration free stapler can also be used for fixing of gripper to treads and stair risers, around bathroom fittings and architraves. It is also suitable for fixing deep-pile carpets and natural floorcoverings.

Stairrods UK (Stand B26) will preview its new Easy Chocks and Easy Wedges. John Raine, director of Stairrods, has again invented ‘a simple yet effective product to overcome problems when fitting Single and DoubleZ that come across those thicker underlays.
The Easy Wedge is 3mm thick for those thick underlays, enabling you to wedge up your singles. Whilst the Easy Chock is designed for the Double Z this is also 3mm thick and enables you to chock up your Double Z. With both products you can double up to 6mm for thicker underlays.
The Chocks and Wedges will be free when ordering Premier Trims for a limited period.
Thereafter they will be available by the bucket for pennies, ultimately eliminating the need to stock raised base profiles.
As Stairrods trims are solid brass, you won’t require as many Wedges or Chocks as you would need for inferior aluminium products, they require double the quantity!

Tupler Oy (Stand B19) manufactures the Tuplex underlay system. It will demonstrate how the product is many things rolled into one, for example, underfloor heating. Tuplex has a low thermal resistance said to make it suitable for installations with underfloor heating.
Sound resistance is reportedly a whopping 20 Decibels, meeting all current European norms for impact sound reduction in upstairs rooms and apartments. Parquet and laminate fitted on Tuplex is said to have a rich sonorous sound, ending problems with tapping.
Moisture blocking: Tuplex air flow system is designed to allow residual moisture to evaporate. With a dual moisture barrier Tuplex reportedly blocks out the damp.

Woolsafe (Stand A33) will showcase its new website and new green initiative and a cleaning product testing service, CleanSeal. These follows last year’s launch of the Carpet Stain Cleaning Guide smartphone app.
WoolSafe has teamed up with Enco Global Testing Services (EGTS) to develop an environmental testing and certification standard for carpet and upholstery cleaning products, which is aimed at boosting availability and use of green carpet care products.
The CleanSeal mark is designed to represent a new testing protocol and performance standard for cleaning products, including performance requirements for cleaning agents for synthetic carpets and furnishing fabrics before testing by EGTS. The programme is operated and underwritten by WoolSafe.
