Acoustic Need

JAMES HARDIE has launched a fibre cement acoustic structural flooring product, HardieFloor.
Using the company’s SmartFloor technology, HardieFloor dB combines the structural HardieFloor board with integrated acoustic matting.
These 27mm slimline tongue and groove boards are claimed to provide a combination of airborne and impact noise reduction.
Also available is the HardieQStrip batten accessory, which can be added to joists prior to installation of the original HardieFloor board or HardieFloor dB board.
Using the HardieQStrip the original boards can be turned into acoustic boards.
With the batten, HardieFloor dB is designed to be enhanced to achieve an impact noise level of 49db and an airborne level of 55db.
