Reasons To Be Cheerful

Reasons to be cheerful may be at odds with recent economic data. Victoria Factory 10Concerns that Britain’s economic recovery is running out of steam heightened last week with disappointing retail sales figures. Manufacturing output was also said to have slowed down. It was the first drop in retail sales since February. We, however, are are not so gloomy. We all have short memories and it is too easy to forget the ‘Indian Summer’ we had which must have affected the high street.

The UK recovery may be slowing but our economy is still growing quicker than most other economies – indeed, we are the envy of many. The disappointing figures were a blip.

In the carpet industry, one only had to be at the Harrogate Flooring Show to see the optimism among both manufacturers and retailers alike. While in no way suggesting we are back to the ‘boom’ years, there was no mistaking the positive vibes emanating from a much busier than usual show.

Autumn will soon be upon us, a traditionally busy period for the carpet industry. We believe there are plenty of reasons to be cheerful.
