Question – Should I Fit My Wardrobe before Or After Having My Carpet Fitted.
Answer – It does not really matter, but we recommend you fit the wardrobe first and lay the carpet up to it. By doing it this way, not only would the floorboards be a better base for the wardrobe, but it will save a lot of time and money later if you were to change the carpet at a later date. However, If you do want carpet inside your wardrobe, you can do this with an additional piece of carpet afterwards.
Question – Why Does My New Carpet Appear To Have Shaded Areas?
Answer – The sides of the tufts of your new carpet can appear to be a bit lighter and more silvery when they are viewed end-on.
As the pile settles lighter and darker patches will develop where the pile angle varies according to the amount of use each area of the carpet gets.
It is quite common for the pile to settle in a different direction to the normal pile lay if the foot traffic bends it this way. This can make the contrast very noticeable (sometimes making the patches appear to have distinct borders).
This is the reason why the shading is sometimes referred to as ‘pile reversal’, but this term is only used to describe what has happened and does not indicate that the carpet is faulty.
The angle of the pile has no effect on the durability of your new carpet and will continue to give you many years of satisfactory service.
Question – I Already Have Underlay In My Home Why Should I Buy New Underlay?
Answer – We strongly recommend a new underlay with any new carpet because it will give the best comfort and performance, plus it will also prolong the life of your new carpet.
If you re-use existing underlay, this will cause the carpet to flatten more quickly in the areas of heaviest wear, because the underlay will be less resilient in these areas (these being the places where the carpet needs the most support).
